Who we are?
Efferent Verb, derived from the Latin words efferō and verb, which can be interpreted as “a word/verb brought outwards,” is a non-profit organization founded in Belarus in 2018. Its main focus is organizing cultural events aimed at the development and dissemination of contemporary art within the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and across the CIS region.
However, due to the political events in Belarus in 2020 and the war in Ukraine in 2022, Efferent Verb has since relocated to New York City, USA in 2023. Now, the organization operates at an international level and within a global scope, expanding its activities and platform.
Since 2018, we have actively participated in organizing concerts of classical music, such as “Zolotogorskaya Lyra,” exhibitions of contemporary art, such as Autumn Salon, and conferences centered around cultural themes, such as the Odin Award. We have also actively collaborated with organizations such as the Belarusian Union of Composers, the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery, and BelGazPromBank.
Since 2023, we have established the Ensemble Introverse project, an international collective of academic performers and composers. We publish a newsletter dedicated to the biographies of contemporary art personalities, as well as a series called Voices, Strings, Winds, which is presented as part of the annual Avant-Garde! project in collaboration with Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York Virtuoso Singers, The String Orchestra of Brooklyn, and the Manhattan Wind Ensemble. Our media partners include The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Tate Modern, and others. In the course of our activities, we have worked with the New York State Council on the Arts, Bernstein, and Citi Private Bank.
What do we do?
Our mission is to bring something new into this world. Because something new is the foundation of the philosophy of the better path, namely the path of perpetual advancement. We achieve this through long-term cultivation of progressive thinking in the international community through the medium of contemporary art.
